Emergency ngo Paediatric Centre in Port Sudan designed by tamassociati wins the “Giancarlo Ius” Gold Medal (Barbara Cappochin International Prize) as the most innovative work in the field of energy saving and renewable energy sources.

The project for the Paediatric Center for Emergency in Port Sudan tries to solve, with excellent results and good architecture, the main themes of contemporary challenges: how to make buildings that combine high comfort – especially in a children’s hospital – with simple and cheap technologies, in places where the weather (and social) conditions are extreme, where energy and water are valuable assets. The winning project is a fine example of taking aesthetic, cultural and technical responsibility: it demonstrates the critical role of the architecture in responding to the needs of people and communities.
